Friday Favorites: Heat Wave Edition

Black Sandals with Gold Hardware –

Love these Jeffrey Campbell black sandals with the gold hardware. Black & Gold is obviously one of my favorite color combos for summer. It’s a really great color scheme for both a day in the office, but fits perfectly in a night-out look. Obviously these sandals might be a bit flashy for the typical office, but paired with a tapered blakc pant and a simple top, these would work as a statement piece, requiring little other accessorizing.

You can actually find some reasonably priced alternatives at Target right now. These are only $21! And the arrow shape of the gold hardware is really eye-catching.

High-Low Dresses –

I’ve also been really into dresses this past week. Most likely due to the heat wave, flowy dresses have been about the only item that was polished, but also cool enough to wear out on the hotter days. I didn’t think I would be one to fall in love with the high-low or maxi dress trend. But they are just SO easy to throw on and instantly look “dressed up.” I hear a lot of people say, but where would I ever wear a dress like that? I’ve found they’re great when going out to dinner and other kind of low key nights out.

Turquoise Nail Polish –

Also obsessing over mint & turquoise colors this summer. I love these two nail polishes – especially when you’ve got a good tan, this teal looks so beachy and pretty!

Heat-free Hairstyles –

My go-to hairstyles this week have been a high ballet-bun and a high curled ponytail. They’re just the easiest thing to style in the heat. For the high ballet-bun, you can put this together even after you’ve just stepped out of the shower. Just use a few bobby-pins to secure the bun in place and you’re basically set for 8 hours or more of a polished hairstyle. And the high curled ponytail is just a really fun/easy style year round, but definitely during the hotter days in July & August when I just don;t feel like wearing my hair down all day.
