Free People Summer Dresses 2013

If you’re still looking for summer dresses to pack for the long 4th of July holiday weekend, I would suggest making a quick stop at Free People. Their dress selection right now is to die for; I’m debating popping over there myself to grab one or two!

I’m visiting NYC, Philadelphia, & Atlantic City this weekend so as to take full advantage of the extra day off from work. And with the threat of intense humidity and weather predicted to be stiflingly hot, it’s quite likely my bags will just be stuffed with only lightweight, summer dresses.

Free People’s aesthetic leans towards bohemian-chic, which is really quite a perfect style for summertime. The bright colors, interesting patterns, flowy lines, and light textures are the quintessential style elements for a summer look. The great thing about Free People dresses is that they’re statement pieces. They require practically no other styling. Why bother with layering on bold jewelry or prancing around in trendy shoes when the dresses truly speak for themselves?

Going Out Dresses –

Planning to dine at a nice restaurant or grab drinks at a swanky lounge? These two exquisite dresses are perfect for that type of nighttime occasion. The draping on the Ruffle dress is so beautifully done. And I love the ombre shine of the Moonlight dress. Both are completely stunning.

Print Dresses –

Embrace the print & pattern trends this summer with one of these cool dresses. The patterns are so visually interesting without overwhelming. I love the trim detailing along the bottom hem of the Tunic. Such a sweet complement to the retro print.

Summer White Dresses –

There’s nothing more essential for a summer wardrobe than a Little White Dress. The flowy lace options are so angelic. Plus, a white dress really accentuates a tan and who doesn’t want to boast a nice glow during the summer? They lace and solid white underlays may be a bit heavy in the summer heat though, so I would suggest thinking about wearing them on cooler summer nights or as we begin to transition into fall.

Beach Cover-Up Dresses –

I love these colorful dresses as beach cover ups. The Tie Dye dress is so hippie-chic! And the print of the Poncho just screams tropical. I love that the shapes of each dress are so loose. You really can’t go wrong owning something like this if you’re an avid beach or pool-goer.

I wish I had thought to check Free People’s summer collection earlier this year! I’ve spotted their frayed shorts in nearly everyone’s Summer Favorites Lists but haven’t seen mention of a single dress! Hope you have a chance to pop by one of their shops – or take advantage of some express deliveries ;)

xoxo,
